When it comes to your health or your weight, you’re probably exhausted of analyzing everything that you put into your body. Hold on though. It gets easier with time and eating right becomes second nature once you get used to what your body wants and needs.
Adjusting your eating habits may seem difficult or even impossible at first, but finding the right foods that fit your lifestyle and taste good will certainly help. Once you realize you feel better by eating foods that agree with you, you may even become addicted to a healthier lifestyle! So, while food and drink may not be all you need to maintain optimum health, it definitely helps to understand what you’re feeding your body with.
Food and drink provide our body with essentials for healthy cells and organs, but the wrong food and drinks can just cause more trouble for our bodies, leading us to gain weight and feel awful. Keep reading for some of the top foods and drinks to avoid.
Processed meats (like hot dogs, bacon, sausage, and deli meats) have preservatives added to them which increase their shelf-life. These processed meats are bad for the heart, because they are salty and have other added nitrates. In general, certain meats can be hard to digest or offer added hormones that puts more strain on your body.
When whole grains are processed, the healthy dietary fiber and minerals that once existed are basically destroyed. Heavy processing destroys food’s natural structure, which then can lead to much higher spikes in blood sugar. Processed foods typically include added ingredients like trans fats, sugar, and sodium.
A normal can of soda (which is twelve ounces of liquid) contains at least ten teaspoons of sugar. Ten! Sodas and even packaged fruit juices are high in sugar and offer empty calories. They increase your chances of gaining weight, which just undoes all of your hard work at the gym. Switch to water to hydrate your body and keep your cells working optimally.
